WHAT WE DO

Genetic information is important to pinpoint the underlying disease mechanisms and to help members of the patient’s family in its prevention. The study of genetic variants in the patient population not only helps in determining the genotype association with the disease but also determines the responsiveness to drug and further assists the physician in the treatment.

Genetic Research Institute of the desert gives patients, family memebers and their healthcare providers insight needed to help prevent and to make quality treatment decisions. The two main fundamental appraoches of our research are 1.to generate patients individualized genomic profile using the innovative scientific applications. and 2. to help & to make patients and the health care providers understand the use of this genetic information in making treatment decisions.

 PREVENTION:

GENERAL POPULATION: NORMAL VS DISEASE – BLOOD SAMPLES

 GENOTYPING – DNA analysis(SNPs, Microsatellite screening) using polymerase chain reactions, sequencing etc.,

 To identify established risk genes and new genes associated with the characteristics of disease.

 GENETIC COUNSELING

- With history of the disease in successive generatioons.

 PERSONALIZED TREATMENT:

WITHIN PATIENT GROUP: NORMAL VS.TUMOR - TISSUE SECTIONS.

 GENE EXPRESSION ANALYSIS – RNA analysis(Up or down regulaion of the gene)using microarrays and qPCR assays. To identify differentially expressed genes between normal and tumor tissue for targeting the genes in certain pathways.

 TO IDENTIFY INDIVIDUAL ABERRANT PATHWAYS: Different tumors have different aberrations in signaling and growth stimulation pathways that drive cancer growth. This may help save time and life of an individual for choosing the right treatment targeting only those specific pathways involved in tumor progression.
